The emissions from the industrial sector are only produced from specific industrial processes
with total of 2,584 Gg CO
2eq (10%) of Lebanon's total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (2011). The emissions from this sector are much diversified due to the variety of industrial
activities. The cement industry is the most important industrial source of CO
2 that is responsible for 99.76% of the emissions of this sector.
Other sources of emissions in Lebanon are production of lime, steel, glass, food, beverages, limestone, asphalt and soda ash use.

The mitigation measures aiming at reducing emissions from industrial processes in Lebanon mainly target cement industries. Increasing the additive blend in cement,
modification of conventional pre-calcination methods, optimizing of heat recovery, and upgrading clinker cooler are among the measures that cement plants can
adopt to reduce their emissions.
