Despite tough national circumstances, the Ministry of Environment managed to kick-off its two-year Green Climate Fund Readiness and Preparatory Support programme in partnership with the South Centre (Switzerland). This programme will support Lebanon in mobilizing funds for development and environmental projects by strengthening the Ministry’s institutional capacity. Consultations and workshops with public and private stakeholders will also support the Ministry in developing an efficient country programme that prioritizes investment areas in climate change mitigation and adaptation, while striking a gender and social balance. This GCF Readiness project will therefore hit two birds in one stone, and ensure that Lebanon remains on the right track to meeting its targets under the Paris Agreement.
