Climate change is increasingly affecting apple production in Lebanon, from water scarcity and changing growing conditions to impacts across the supply chain.
Through a series of training sessions, around 90 apple farmers from Kfardebian, Hrajel, Faraya, Baskinta, Beqaatet Kanaan, Bqaatouta, Wata Joz, Mtein and Mayrouba explored climate risks affecting their production and practical solutions to strengthen resilience.
The sessions focused on improved water governance, irrigation scheduling, rainwater harvesting and storage, and climate-smart agricultural practices. By equipping farmers with practical knowledge and adaptation solutions, the initiative aims to help protect agricultural productivity and livelihoods while strengthening the long-term resilience of Lebanon’s apple sector to a changing climate.
