    IPTEC's Eco-Driving Campaign

    With this year's International Beirut Energy Forum (IBEF) came the closing of a successful collaboration between IPTEC, the Ministry of Environment, ESCWA and the UNDP regarding a national campaign for air pollution reduction in Lebanon through efficient energy use in land transportation. This campaign, titled "Be an Eco-Driver" provides tips for drivers that aim at lowering air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, enhance road safety and reduce costs, i.e. driving at low RPM, changing oil and oil filters regularly, and parking in the shade.     Rainwater to the rescue of greenhouse owners facing severe summer droughts

    Pumped water from artesian wells has always been the source of irrigation water for Mohammad, Farid and Souhail. Each of these three Lebanese farmers own greenhouses situated in the coastal towns of Choueifat, Kfarmashoun and Damour in Lebanon. Tomatoes, cucumbers and strawberries are grown in these greenhouses all year round.

    The Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC) national process started on July 14th, 2015 at the Ministry of Environment where representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Tourism, Lebanon Petroleum Administration, United Nations Development Programme, Presidency of the Council of Ministers and Lebanese Center for Energy Conservation were present to launch the first INDC committee meeting.
